Book recomondation

I think one of the most interesting and cliff-hanging book I've ever read has to be, 13 Reasons Why, by Jay Asher. It is about a boy named Clay who is facing a difficult situation. A package arrived at his door, on the day a classmate committed suicide, her name was Hannah Baker. He opened the package just to find tapes, tapes of Hannah talking about why she did what she did. He finds out that everyone who was part of the 13 reasons why she did it, also received a package. As Clay starts to listen he starts to wonder what he ever did wrong to her, and becomes more confused, and scared. But when he comes to the disc about himself, he becomes very emotionally upset. He becomes more attached to Hannah as he listens to her voice telling them what they did wrong. Then, he reaches to the last tape. Once he finished he decides something that will change his life forever.

Before I Fall- Reading Skills

In the book Before I Fall, there is a serious car crash and it causes the death of a couple of people. The main character Sam, I predict is one of the reasons for it. This is because she doesn't care about what people say, does what she wants, and isn't always friendly. A text to self example is in the story they make fun of a girl named Vicky and this happens a lot in the real world. Also a text to text example would be how in the story she doesn't even care that she died really, and this is also the same case in the book, 13 Reasons Why. I have realized that there are a lot of books that are very similar in even the smallest ways.

Before I Fall- Characters

In the book Before I Fall, the main character is telling the story of how she died, and how she spent her last day alive. In the beginning, she does not seem very serious about the fact that she had died, and doesn't even seem sad. But as the story goes on, she tells what happened and how she has one day to live left. I think as the story goes on Sam, the main character tries to figure out what to do and how to stop the future from happening. She relives the same day and tries to figure out what to do, and how to stop a huge accident. She gets into trouble, at the same time of this and tries to avoid even more. In the beginning of the book, she didn't care about what she did with her friends, and she didn't really seem to care about herself, much either. But after that, she tries to make things right again, and save herself even though she is doubtful of that. Based on this I think Sam will seem to be a laid-back, careless, teenager who doesn't really care about a lot, but I do think she will change her ways toward the end of the story. I think this will advance the plot because I think she will try to avoid the mistake from happening over and over, and try to be a better person, in general.

The Hunger Games- favorite books

One of my favorite books I have read has to be, The Hunger Games. This book is full of action, and instinct. In the beginning of the book, Katniss Everdeen, the main character's family is preparing for the Reaping. This is a ceremony in all of the districts (where they people live) to see who gets to fight to the death, and is the "best district". So, when they go her sister, Primrose is chosen to fight. But, Katniss won't allow that, and volunteers to go instead, with a boy, Peeta who is also chosen. When they begin the games, Katniss struggles a little but manages to fight, and survive. During the middle of the book, the person in-charge tells them they are allowed to win with the person of the same district. In her case, that would have been Peeta. So, she goes and finds him injured, and helps him to recover. At the end of the games, they release werewolves which were the people that died. They attack them, but Peeta and Katniss manage to fight off the last victor and survive together. Then they say that only one person can win, so they decide to eat poison berries, so they wouldn't have to kill each other, but they are stopped and they both get to survive. At the end of the story, they are happy because they both lived, and they were able to reunite safely with their families.

Hunger Games- main idea text

In the book, The Hunger Games, there are multiple themes to the story. If I had to choose only one theme I think it would be, "believe in yourself." That is because in the beginning of the story, Katniss Everdeen, the main character's sister is summoned to fight a battle to the death, but Katniss volunteers for her. Everyone believes she will die, and not last very long, but Katniss keeps her mind set on what is happening, uses her knowledge, and makes allies. She believes in herself, and doesn't give up even when it seems like she's trapped. When the games are over, Katniss trusts herself even more, and believes that if she can win the Hunger Games, she can accomplish a lot. She never stopped trusting herself, and in the end she began to trust herself even more.
